How does the vibrating fork level sensor work

The piezoelectric element is used to excite the attached tuning fork to a frequency corresponding to the natural frequency of the tuning fork. When the fork touches the medium, it experiences a change in the vibration frequency regardless of whether it is liquid or solid. This causes the apparatus to switch, where the electronics within the sensor can detect whether material is present.
